Spintronics with Topological Insulators
résumé:

Spintronics (or spin-electronics) is an emerging technology that aims to use electric fields in order to manipulate and control the spin degrees of freedom of electrons. Time-reversal invariant topological insulators constitute a newly identified class of materials that, by virtue of their peculiar surface states, have generated prospects for alluring spintronics effects. This talk will be devoted to the theoretical prediction of a few such effects, which mainly occur at interfaces between topological insulators and ferromagnets.
