moi

I am a PHD student in physics at the physics department of the Université de Sherbrooke. I have finished my bachelor’s degree in december 2005 and my master degree in december 2007, both in Sherbrooke. I am currently working under the supervision of Prof. Alexandre Blais, who work on quantum computing with superconducting qubits. More precisely, I study circuit quantum electrodynamics.

Physics topics I have studied

Master’s degree

I did my master’s degree on circuit quantum electrodynamics in the strong coupling dispersive limite. I have studied analytically and numerically the behaviour of a superconducting qubit (Cooper-pair box) coupled to a stripline coplanar resonator in the limit of a strong homodyne measurement.

Bachelor’s degree

During my bachelor’s degree, I did three 4-month long training courses at the physics departmenent of the Université de Sherbrooke.

For my first training course, during winter 2004, I was supervised by Prof. René Côté. I have worked on topological excitations of pseudo-spins in the double quantum well. More precisely,  I have studied phases of meron and bimeron crystals.

For my second training course, during fall 2004, I was also supervised by Prof. René Côté. I have numerically studied various phases of the single and double quantum well, such as skyrmion crystals, bubble crystals and locally unbalanced crystals. I have also developped many programs including a data processing program combined to a SQL database.

For my third and last training course, during summer 2005, I was supervised by the professeors André-Marie Tremblay, Serge Charlebois, et René Côté. I developped a simulation program to study commutation statistics of Josephson junctions in the presence of classical thermal noise.

Computing skills

Before studying in physics, I have done a lot of programming that I learned by myself. I have also worked for one year (three successive summers) for PoolExpert.com. I have helped developping the website, some data processing programs, as well the Microsoft SQL Server database that is behind the website. More recently, I have created, in collaboration with an analyst, a C++ package for efficient simulation of quantum systems through optimized operations involving sparse and dense matrices. Throughout my personnal or professionnal experience, I have developped a good knowledge of the following languages and programs : Java, HTML, ASP, PHP, SQL, C++, C#, XML, Perl, VB Script, Fortran 90, MPI, LaPACK, GSL, Tecplot, Gnuplot, Mathematica, LaTeX, and I have worked with the operating systems Mac OS X, Linux and Windows XP.
