Claudine Allen (PhD 2006, limited licence of Professional Engineers Ontario 2016) is a Professor at the Département de physique, de génie physique et d’optique at Université Laval, researcher at Centre d’optique, photonique et laser (COPL) and was an invited researcher at the Max-Planck-Institut für die Physik des Lichts (MPL, Erlangen, Germany) in 2014-15. Her research interests are focussed on light-matter interaction at nanoscopic and microscopic scales. She specializes in quantum confined and photonic materials, covering all aspects: synthesis, characterization, instrumentation and applications (2 patents filed) from biodetection to quantum optics. The quality of her undergraduate teaching was recognized with 8 faculty awards and she is involved in continued improvement of the Physics program.
