Hae-Young Kee is professor of physics at the University of Toronto. She is a Senior Fellow of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research in the Quantum Materials Program, and previously held a Canada Research Chair in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics.

Prof. Kee leads the Theory Group of Quantum Materials at UofT. Her work is focused on topological materials, frustrated magnetic systems, high temperature superconductors, and electronic nematic liquids.

The practical applications of quantum materials have a tremendous technological potential. Prof. Kee’s research aims to understand theoretically the behavior of complex quantum systems, in order to guide the design of novel quantum materials, and to harness emergent phenomena in those systems.
