PhD student

Université INRS

Sophie Dufour-Beauséjour is a Ph.D candidate in remote sensing and northern science at Université INRS and a W. Garfield Weston foundation scholar. Her research focuses on sea ice in Nunavik bays of the Hudson Strait. She completed a master’s degree in physics at Université de Sherbrooke on high-temperature superconductors. Sophie hosts the feminist radio show Les Simones on CKIA FM 88,3 in Québec city.

“As a physicist now working in the fascinating field of Northern Science, I am particularly interested in complex problems requiring multidisciplinary approaches. I am commited to learning about Inuit culture and contributing to the reconciliation process, from my situation as a non-indigenous canadian woman. When I’m not practicing research, I can be found hosting on the local radio, organizing something in my community or gardening with friends.”
